The Effects Artificial Intelligence has had on Society and on Business Until recently, many people thought it unlikely for machines to have human-like abilities. Human-like abilities were generally only attributed to animals, and not machines. However, with technological advancements such as computers, many are beginning to realize the importance and impact such machines have in business. There are virtually no businesses today who do not implement the use of the Internet and networking technologies. The reason is because e-Business has made it more efficient, effective and has saved companies time and money when dealing with their business practices. It is difficult to assign intelligence to man-made objects, so first we†¦show more content†¦Weak AI, however, has the ability to solve problems and reason in only a limited domain. It might act as if it is intelligent, but is does not actually possess any true intelligence. True intelligence is having a soul with which you measure good and bad knowledge, and with which you can make biased decisions. Machines have no â€Å"magic spark† which allows them to become excited about their knowledge or the decisions they make because of that knowledge. Whereas the knowledge a computer can have is infinite, the emotions that knowledge stirs is finite, or even non-existent. Both forms of AI have their advantages and can, and have, impacted the business world in numerous ways, as previously mentioned. The disadvantages often go unobserved, although it is important to be aware of the potential harms of artificial intelligence. Today there are many forms of artificial intelligence, such as the following: computers, calculators, personal digital assistants (PDAs), robots, virtual reality, genetic clones and medicine, among a plethora of others. Some forms of AI are more controversial than others, and not everyone agrees that AI is beneficial to society. It is still to be determined how and what the future of AI will be, and what it has yet to bring. This topic will be discussed more later in the paper.
